Sad Little Man of Tin

Hey tin man, hiding your feelings behind

that cool metal, shaped facade.

A shell of a man, couldn’t get his way–

You loved her, you couldn’t forget her, no,

couldn’t settle for the one before you.

Selfish man, you couldn’t ever love her.

Your love was vapid and empty-headed

and unrequited–

Shrink, shrink, disappear.

What need have you for broken hearts?

Poor tin man, you dare cry for yourself?

Heartless, your self-pity echoes in the void.

Rust away, tin man, alone and unloved

because your heart couldn’t find love for her.
